Just a quick update to inform you all that I did manage to turn our little red wagon into an airplane for Butter & Eggs Day Parade. I got so carried away that I also turned one of our push cars into an even littler airplane for Rocky to ride in.

We dressed the kids in matching white t-shirts with pants covered in stars. I was given the idea to buy swim goggles for the kids to wear so they’d look like the Red Baron in the plane. But I could only manage to find swim goggles for kids at CVS that were a blue and white tie-dye. But they did the job. Olivia refused to wear them and Georgia did her best as the Blue Baron.

Brent dressed in a flight jacket and had on aviator glasses while I channeled Amelia Earhart by donning a leather bomber jacket, cargo pants, boots, a white scarf, and the same mirrored aviators as Brent. We laughed because those glasses were the worst sunglasses we have ever purchased. At $2.50 each we paid the price in eye strain for the rest of the day.

It was a fun day and the kids had a blast. We had pizza from local pizza makers Pizza Politana and enjoyed the festivities of the day under the shaded canopy at the kids zone at the Mail Depot. It was the most fun I’ve had at Butter & Eggs Day yet.

Butter & Eggs Day is one event that sets Petaluma apart from neighboring communities and helps give Petaluma the small hometown community feel that made me fall in love with this town when I moved here nearly seven years ago. I’m already looking forward to next year. I guess I better start saving my cardboard now then shouldn’t I?
